Every month, the South African Social Security Agency drops grant payments on set dates and knowing exactly when yours lands can make a huge difference. Here’s the full breakdown of 2026 payment schedules for the SRD R370 grant, Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, and Child Support Grant.

Here’s how it works grants for Older Persons, Disability, and Child Support come through at the beginning of the month, before the 10th. SRD grant recipients get paid toward the end of the month, somewhere between the 20th and the 30th.

APRIL 2026 HERE’S WHEN YOUR MONEY DROPS:
Big news first most SASSA grants are going up from April 2026. Check the updated amounts below.
- The Older Persons Grant hits on 2 April 2026 that’s the Thursday heading into the Easter long weekend. Any grants linked to those accounts follow the same date.
- Disability Grant recipients get paid on 7 April 2026 the Tuesday right after Easter. Linked accounts follow suit.
- Child Support, Foster Child, Care Dependency, War Veterans all landing on 8 April 2026, the Wednesday after Easter.
- For SRD grant holders, payments roll out in two rounds. First batch: 23 to 24 April. Second batch: 29 to 30 April. Check your status for your specific date once processed, expect the money to reflect within 2 to 3 days.
And don’t stress if you can’t collect on the exact date your money stays right there waiting for you.

HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY GET PAID?
You’ve got options. Direct deposit straight to your bank account, SASSA Gold Card at any ATM, retail partners including Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, and Usave, or via Post Office depending on how you applied.
Pro tip skip the chaos on payment day. Wait a few days and you’ll save yourself hours in the queue.

Before you touch that ATM, scope out your surroundings if anyone’s lurking nearby, move on. Once your transaction is done, leave immediately. Never let a stranger convince you to go back to finalize anything that’s a skimming scam. Take your time during the transaction, and the moment cash or your card is in hand, put it away before you step back.
Monitor your balance regularly and flag anything suspicious straight away.
HOW DOES THE SASSA GOLD CARD WORK?
Think of it like a regular bank card draw cash at ATMs, pay at till points, the works. Set up a PIN immediately to protect your funds if the card ever goes missing. The card is fully backed by the South African Reserve Bank, and your grant balance sits there safely until you’re ready to use it.

As of October 2025, here’s what each grant pays:
- Old Age Grant: R2,320 for ages 60–74, and R2,340 for 75 and older. Disability and Care Dependency Grants: R2,320. Child Support Grant: R560, plus a R280 Top-Up. Foster Child Grant: R1,250. SRD Grant: R370.
